Despite the problems of the “parent” Huawei, the Honor sub-brand introduced its new products. Is there anything in Honor 20 that will arouse customer interest?
In May 2019, clouds over the Chinese corporation Huawei and its products thickened. At first, Google threatened to stop supporting services for its gadgets (which, however, is not very scary, the same Meizu has been releasing smartphones without Google Apps for years, and Xiaomi is quietly trading its hits in China without the "good corporation" applications). Then the British from ARM, according to rumors, were going to abandon the licensing of Huawei's own chipsets, which means sales of smartphones, tablets and other devices around the world will be in question. But no matter how the history of political relations between the United States and China, the Huawei, or rather its sub-brand Honor, showed the new flagships of its own line - Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. Let's talk about the first of them.
Price and release date in Russia Honor 20
Last year's replacement Honor 10 was shown at a special presentation on May 21. On sale throughout the Honor 20 should go in mid-June, then it will appear in Russia. The recommended price for a smartphone in Europe is known. There it will be sold for 499 euros (32.2 thousand rubles). The level of the Russian price is still unknown, but it is worth waiting for it in the range from 35 to 38 thousand rubles.

Screen
Honor 20 received the world's first IPS screen with a hole for the front camera. Before him, this designer trick had only an OLED display, for example, the same Honor View 20. The novelty has a screen diagonal of 6.26 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. By the way, narrow frames on the top and sides gave the ratio of the display area to the case at 91.4%.
Housing
The design and appearance of the body of the new smartphone is a typical solution for the flagship Huawei-Honor 2019. Honor 20 is made of glass and metal, and the rear glass panel flaunts tints of light in the light. An unusual solution for the company's products was the removal of a fingerprint scanner on the power button. This arrangement of the sensor like to do in Sony. Another question, why is not the cheapest smartphone has a sub-screen fingerprint? In part, this is due to the choice of Honor IPS-matrix, but still, it does not leave a sense of economy. In general, the device turned out to be quite large and heavy - 154 x 73 x 7.9 mm (174 grams). The camera module, according to the unpleasant fashion of recent years, strongly sticks out of the case, which means that scratches and inconvenience when typing with a smartphone lying on the table are inevitable.
CPU, memory, communications
It is no longer news that Huawei and its sub-brand Honor use their own Kirin processors in their smartphones. The Honor 20 received the HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset, well-known for the P20 Mate and P30. It is a 7-nm processor with 8 cores and clocked at up to 2.6 GHz. It uses the artificial intelligence of a dual neuro module. Together with the chipset, the Mali-G76 MP10 video accelerator works.

The smartphone came out in a single memory configuration - 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of permanent. These figures are not striking at all, especially against the background of competitors. There is no microSD card, in the combined slot there was a place for only two SIM cards.

With the interfaces, the Honor 20 is also ambiguous. On the one hand, there are all modern wireless modules - dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and much needed by many NFC. The novelty has even received an infrared port for controlling equipment. The bad news is that the Honor 20 does not have a 3.5mm audio jack. The only port for wired connection here, though Type-C, but only slow USB 2.0.
Camera
The photographic part of the Honor 20 is one of the strongest components of a smartphone. The phone has a main camera of four sensors. The first and main one is a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor with f / 1.8 aperture. This camera is used in many flagships (and not only in them) in 2019 and produces decent 12-megapixel images (48 megapixels - only in special mode). The second sensor is 16 megapixels with an aperture of f / 2.2, a viewing angle of 117 degrees with the suppression of the effect of the fisheye. But then weird things begin. Firstly, a 2MP sensor is installed here to create a background blur. However, many manufacturers, including Huawei, have abandoned these modules, because high-quality bokeh can now be obtained by the software. The second oddity is a 2-megapixel camera for shooting macro. And this is a completely strange decision, After all, the macro mode in the same Huawei P30 is assigned to a wide-angle sensor. And finally, the smartphone does not have optical stabilization, only software based on “artificial intelligence”. What do we have in the dry residue? It’s worth using only 48 and 12-megapixel sensors, everything else is pure marketing.

The front camera of Honor 20 has a resolution of 32 megapixels and is able to create animoji from the faces of people.
Battery
The smartphone received a battery of 3,750 mAh. The Honor 20 supports fast charging with a power of 22.5 W, with which it takes half an hour to recharge the battery capacity from 0 to 55%.
